PLI Schemes Drew Rs 95,000 Cr Investments By September 2023: Centre
The production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes for 14 sectors have attracted over Rs 95,000 crore in investment till September this year. According to the Commerce and Industry Ministry, as many as 746 applications have been approved till November 2023 under these schemes.

  • In the Union Budget 2021-22, the government announced an outlay of Rs 1.97 trillion for the schemes.The sectors included electronics, telecommunication, pharma, white goods (AC and LED light components), and textiles. The aim is to enhance India’s manufacturing capabilities and exports.

Vice President Unveiled Postal Cover on Justice Reddy’s Centenary
Jagdeep Dhankhar, Vice-President of India, released a postal special cover to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of legal luminary late Justice Konda Madhav Reddy at AV College, Gagan Mahal, Hyderabad.

  • Late Justice Konda Madhav Reddy served as the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh and Mumbai High Courts and Governor of Maharashtra.
  • The postal special cover released in honour of Justice Konda Madhav Reddy, is a momentous occasion which captures the essence of his life and works and the values he stood for.

Ayodhya railway junction renamed as Ayodhya Dham
Ayodhya railway junction in Uttar Pradesh has been renamed as Ayodhya Dham junction, local MP Lallu Singh said. The announcement came days before the inauguration of the redevelopment railway station by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

  • The redeveloped Ayodhya railway station is a state-of-the-art facility having modern “airport-like” amenities, while its facade is inspired by traditional temple architecture.

Health Minister Launched ‘MedTech Mitra’ to Advance Health Solution
Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has launched MedTech Mitra – a strategic initiative to empower MedTech innovators and advance healthcare solutions. It will be a gamechanger for Indian MedTech industry and facilitate indigenous development of affordable, quality MedTech devices and diagnostics.

  • Dr. Mandaviya stated that the medical devices sector is an integral constituent of India’s healthcare sector. He said, India is taking a holistic approach to health with a vision to transform the health landscape in the country by 2047.

KSRTC Unveils ‘Namma Cargo’ Logistics In Karnataka
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) marked a significant milestone in its journey by venturing into the logistics business. Minister for Transport Ramalinga Reddy inaugurated the initiative under the brand name “Namma Cargo,” introducing cargo services on KSRTC route buses.

  • The launch event saw the deployment of 20 cargo trucks to kickstart the ‘Namma Cargo’ services in various districts across the state.
  • KSRTC has strategically partnered with KMS Coach Builders Private Limited, securing cargo trucks on a rental basis for an initial period of two months. This collaboration reflects the corporation’s commitment to efficiently utilizing resources for the successful implementation of the logistics service.

Coca-Cola extends its partnership with ICC for eight years
Beverage major Coca-Cola has renewed its partnership with the International Cricket Council (ICC), securing an eight-year commitment that stretches through 2031, encompassing all major ICC world events in various cricket formats. This move solidifies one of ICC’s longest-ever associations with a single brand, continuing a partnership that began in 2019.

  • This extension builds upon Coca-Cola’s initial five-year agreement with the ICC, which started in 2019, making Coca-Cola’s brands the exclusive non-alcoholic beverage partners of the cricket governing body. The initial deal covered prestigious tournaments like the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 and the T20 World Cups, along with other global events.

Vita Dani becomes first Indian to be inducted as ITTF governing board member
Sports entrepreneur Vita Dani has become the first Indian to be inducted as a governing board member of the International Table Tennis Federation’s (ITTF) Foundation. The Foundation was established in 2018 by the ITTF to attract more people to the sport.

  • Vita and her organisation (Dani Foundation) have played a big role in shaping the upward trajectory of Indian table tennis. She is also the co-owner of the Chennaiyin Football Club, which features in the Indian Super League.

Gwalior Achieves Guinness Record With ‘Largest Tabla Ensemble’ At Tansen Festival
Around 1,300 tabla players who performed at the 99th International Tansen Samaroh in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh entered the Guinness World Records for achieving the “largest tabla ensemble”.

  • The Guinness World Records certificate was handed over to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who said his government would henceforth observe December 25 as ‘Tabla Day’ to commemorate the feat and honour all musicians.

Aditya-L1: India’s first solar mission to reach destination on Jan 6, confirms ISRO chairman
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced that Aditya-L1, India’s premier solar mission, is set to reach its intended destination, the Lagrangian point (L1), situated 1.5 million kilometres from Earth, on January 6. S Somanath, chairman of ISRO.

  • Launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) at Sriharikota on September 2, the mission marks India’s pioneering venture into studying the Sun from a halo orbit at L1, an endeavour previously unexplored by the nation.
