MP Cabinet approves Ladli Behna Yojana
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the cabinet approved the Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana which will empower women at every level.

  • Under this scheme, Rs 1000 (month) will be deposited in the account of women, irrespective of their class or caste, whose age is above 23 years.
  • The Yojana will be launched on March 5, 2023. The applications are very simple, the team will visit to fill out the application in their village itself.

Assam CM lays foundation stone of North East India’s first compressed biogas plant project in Kamrup
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended as chief guest at the foundation stone laying ceremony of North East India’s first-ever compressed biogas plant project at Domora Pathar in Sonapur under Kamrup (Metropolitan) district.

  • Being set up by entrepreneurs Pankaj Gogoi and Rakesh Doley under the banner of Redlemon Technologies Private Limited, the plant proposed to be operational from November 2023, will have a production capacity of five tonne-per-day of compressed biogas that would be produced from raw materials such as cattle-dung, municipal solid wastes, etc.

India joins the Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate
India has joined a global initiative started by the US and the UAE to boost funding and assistance for the development of climate-smart agriculture and food systems. The two countries together launched the Agricultural Innovation Mission for Climate (AIM4C) in November 2021.

  • On the sidelines of the I2U2 – Israel, India, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates – Business Forum in Abu Dhabi, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dammu Ravi signed a letter stating India’s intention to join the AIM4C.There was a first-ever I2U2 Business Forum.
  • The mission will serve as an example of the advantages of group dedication. It will seek to enhance investments in novel agricultural technology, smart agriculture, and the food chain.

UK overtakes India as the world’s sixth-biggest stock market
The UK has surpassed India as the world’s sixth-largest equity market for the first time since May 2022 as a weaker pound boosts appeal of exporters and jitters over Adani-Hindenburg row are being felt across Indian markets, said a report.

  • The combined market capitalisation of primary listings in the UK, excluding ETFs and ADRs, reached about $3.11 trillion, $5.1 billion higher than their Indian equivalents, which hasn’t happened since May 29, 2022, said Bloomberg.

Singapore-based RBB Ship Chartering comes to GIFT City
Singapore-based RBB Ship Chartering Pte Ltd has become the first ship leasing operator at the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) in GIFT City, Gandhinagar.

  • RSCPL (IFSC) Private Ltd, a 100 per cent subsidiary of RBB Ship Chartering, has secured a provisional licence to commence ship leasing business at GIFT City, according to an official statement.,

Messi scores 700th career club goal in PSG vs Marseille game 
Lionel Messi has entered the history books yet again.

  • Messi now has scored a whopping 700 goals in his club career in Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-0 Ligue 1 win against rival Marseille.
  • The Argentinian legend achieved this feat when he scored in the 29th minute as Kylian Mbappe turned provider, during PSG’s league match against Marseille to cement its place at the top of the league table.

Shailesh Pathak appointed as Ficci secy general
Former bureaucrat Shailesh Pathak has been appointed as the new Secretary General of Ficci, the industry body said. Pathak will take over the charge on March 1.

  • In a career spanning 37 years, Pathak has spent time in government as an IAS Officer as well as helmed large companies in the private sector.
  • Ficci also announced that Arun Chawla, Director General, will superannuate on June 30, 2023, and transition to an advisory role.

Lionel Messi crowned Best Men’s Player 2022 at FIFA awards
Lionel Messi bagged the Best Men’s Player 2022 at the FIFA awards as Argentina took home major honours after their World Cup triumph in December last year.

  • The 35-year-old scored two goals in the final against France before Argentina emerged winners on penalties following a 3-3 draw in Qatar.
  • Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni clinched the Best Men’s Coach award, while Emiliano Martinez (Argentina) was named the Best Men’s Goalkeeper.
  • Argentina’s supporters bagged the Best Fan title. The glittering ceremony also recognised the standout goal of the year as Marcin Oleksy won The FIFA Puskas Award for his impressive finish. Luka Lochoshvili picked up The FIFA Fair Play award in recognition of his exemplary reaction whilst playing for Wolfsberger AC when an opposing player fell unconscious on the pitch and Luka rushed to his aid.

IIT-M partners with GIC Re to develop urine based TB diagnosis
The prestigious Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) is partnering with General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re), a Public Sector Undertaking, to develop a urine-based tuberculosis diagnosis or screening that is expected to be rapid and affordable in comparison to the existing TB diagnostic tests.

  • The envisaged product for urine-based TB screening and diagnosis is anticipated to be faster and far more affordable than the existing point-of-care diagnostic kits available for various diseases such as blood glucose monitors.
