AIIMS signs MoU with Mauritius PSC to assist in conducting examinations
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi signed an MOU with the PSC Mauritius, to conduct examinations for Medical and Health Officers, Senior Medical Officers, Dental Surgeons and Senior Dental Surgeons to join the Public Service in the Republic of Mauritius.

  • The PSC had approached the examination section of AIIMS for assistance in conduction of its examinations. The examination section of AIIMS has experience in conducting various entrance, exit and recruitment-level examinations on a large scale.

MHA Nod for MoU between Indian & Nigerian drug control agencies
The Union home ministry has cleared a proposal for signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) between India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on prevention of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursor chemicals.

  • The move comes after a meeting between the heads of the NCB and NDLEA following the ‘No Money for Terror Conference’ in Delhi in November last year.

India receives third S-400 squadron from Russia
India has received the third squadron of the S-400 air defence system from Russia. This S-400 squadron is being deployed at the border with Pakistan in order to tackle arial attacks on Punjab and northern Rajasthan.

  • For India, which has to deal with two enemies on two fronts in the form of China and Pakistan, the delivery of the third S-400 squadron is an assurance against any attack from Pakistan.

Indian School of Business made knowledge partner for G-20 Education Working Group
The Indian School of Business (ISB) has been roped in as a knowledge partner for the G-20 Education Working Group (EWG) by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

  • ISB will provide research and thought leadership support to NSDC, which is a body under the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, in the broad area of future of work. It will also aid in creating knowledge collateral for the G20 EWG that in addition to original research, will draw on two webinars and a seminar, the business school said.
  • The webinars on ‘Megatrends shaping the future of work’ and ‘Foundational skills and lifelong learning’ will culminate in a skills exhibition that will host all G-20 nations in Bhubaneshwar.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launches Swachhotsav under Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0
In the run up to the Women’s Day on March 8,2023, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has launched Swachhotsav, 3-week women-led swachhata campaign, under the Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0.

  • The campaign aims to recognize and celebrate the transition from women in sanitation to women-led sanitation.
  • A series of events and activities will be organized across cities to celebrate women from all walks of life, who will provide leadership in making the mission of garbage free cities (GFC) a success.
  • At the launch, the first edition of Women Icons leading Sanitation & Waste Management (WINS) Challenge-2023 was also announced.

City Union Bank rolls out credit card in tie-up with 42 Card Solutions
City Union Bank has launched its first credit card, the Dhi CUB Visa Signature Credit Card, in partnership with credit cards-as-a-service provider 42 Card Solutions.

  • Customers can apply for the card by logging into the bank’s mobile application, and can get 1.25 per cent cashback on eligible spends.The bank will also offer a free CUB Keychain Debit Card to its credit card customers.
  • 42 Card Solutions will manage the end-to-end credit card processing services for City Union Bank through a cloud-native card management system from Brazilian technology company Pismo.

World Bank Signs a $1 Billion Program to Support India’s Health Sector for Pandemic Preparedness and Enhanced Health Service Delivery
The Centre and the World Bank have signed two complementary loans of $500 million each to support and enhance the country’s health sector development.

  • Through this combined financing of $1 billion, the World Bank will support India’s flagship Pradhan Mantri-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), launched in October 2021.
  • Both the loans are from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), having a final maturity of 18.5 years, including a grace period of 5 years.

After Bajaj Allianz, New India Assurance gets into surety bonds business
The country’s largest general insurer, New India Assurance, has become the second insurance company to get into the surety bonds business, which is being pushed by the central government as an alternative to bank guarantees for government procurement.

  • Last November, private sector general insurer Bajaj Allianz General Insurance was the first in its space to get into this business. There were talks of two other private sector insurers getting into the business.


BUSINESS & ECONOMY

ONGC signs MoU with France’s TotalEnergies for deep-water exploration
India’s top explorer Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC.NS) has signed a memorandum of understanding with French major TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA) for exploration of deep-water blocks, the company said.

  • The MoU seeks to provide technical help for ONGC’s push to explore and reduce green house emissions in development of deep-water blocks especially in Mahanadi and Andamans, off India’s east coast.

GSTN empanels EY, IRIS Business, 2 other private firms to provide e-invoice registration services
GST Network has empanelled four private companies, including EY and IRIS Business, for providing e-invoice registration services to businesses.

  • Businesses with turnover of Rs 10 crore and above are required to generate electronic or e-invoice for all B2B transactions.So far, taxpayers under Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime could use only government portal NIC to register their e-invoices.
  • Four private companies viz. ClearTax, Cygnet, E&Y and IRIS Business Ltd were empanelled by GSTN for providing these e-invoice registration services to all GST taxpayers of the country.
