India aims to triple natural gas share to 15% by 2030: Minister
India has embarked on an ambitious trajectory to amplify its existing 6% share of natural gas in the energy amalgam to a formidable 15% by 2030, as the government presses forward with a suite of comprehensive measures, said minister of state in the ministry of petroleum & natural gas, Rameswar Teli.
- In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, the minister said, “various steps have been taken by the government to raise the share of natural gas in energy mix to 15% in 2030 from about 6% currently.”
Government employee unions hold “Pension Rights Maharally” in Delhi demanding old scheme
Employees of central and state government departments will gather at Ramlila Maidan to demand the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, a group of railway union leaders have said.
- The ‘Pension Rights Maharally’ will be organised under the banner of the Joint Forum for Restoration of Old Pension Scheme (JFROPS)/National Joint Council of Action (NJCA), the union leaders informed.
- Central, state, railway and PSU employees, along with teachers, defence personnel and ex-paramilitary personnel from all corners of the country participated in the rally.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced the third edition of its UPI Safety Awareness Campaign named “UPI Chalega 3.0.” Collaborating with key stakeholders in the payments ecosystem, the campaign aims to emphasize the ease, safety, and swiftness of using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for transactions.
- This initiative seeks to educate users about several essential UPI features that enhance convenience and security.
RBI partners with McKinsey and Accenture on using AI/ML
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will work with global consultancy firms McKinsey and Accenture to improve its regulatory supervision over banks and Non-Banking Financial Corporations (NBFCs) using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).
- The RBI is looking to extensively use advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to analyse its huge database and improve regulatory supervision over banks and NBFCs. For this purpose, the central bank plans to hire external experts.

Online travel company MakeMyTrip said it has joined hands with the Ministry of Tourism to showcase 600-plus offbeat destinations. The online travel firm has launched a microsite, ‘Traveller’s Map of India’.
- The site provides an interactive platform for travellers to discover lesser-known tourism gems that lie within the country’s borders based on their preferences.
- This thoughtfully curated microsite has been designed in line with the Government of India’s visionary ‘DekhoApnaDesh’ programme,” MakeMyTrip said.

Indian Air Force inducts Heron Mark 2 drones
In a big addition to India’s security capabilities, the Indian Airforce has inducted new Heron Mark 2 drones operating from a forward air base in the northern sector which has the capability to cover entire borders with both Pakistan and China in a single sortie.
- The four new Heron Mark-2 drones, which can be equipped with long-range missiles and other weapons systems, have been deployed at a forward air base in the northern sector.
- The drone will be used for a variety of missions, including intelligence gathering, border patrol, and counter-insurgency operations. It will also be used to support the IAF’s combat aircraft, providing them with real-time imagery and targeting data.
