Computer Aptitude for SBI PO – Set 3

Computer Aptitude Questions for SBI PO 2017.

Directions (1-5): A student has come to a University to get enrolled. The data flow diagram shows the procedure followed by university for the enrollment of a student

  1. If the registration form filled by the student is declared invalid, then to which of the following steps does the ‘No’ answer of ‘Valid?’ condition does go to?
    A) Asks Course
    B) Enrollment Cancel
    C) Fill Registration Form
    D) Either A or C
    E) Either B or C
    View Answer
      Option E
    Explanation:
After Valid? Condition, there are 2 things. First the candidate has filled some data wrong in form, then the candidate will be asked to fill another form.
But if something filled in form by the candidate is against the policies of university, his enrollment can be cancelled.  So from given options, E) is the best to choose
  2. Which of the following condition will decrease the data flow diagram to minimum number of steps?
    A) The student has the required course fee.
    B) The student is ready to get enrolled in any course.
    C) The student has already collected the registration form before any enquiry.
    D) Both A and B
    E) All of A, B and C
    View Answer
      Option B
    Explanation
    :
    A) If the student has required fee, then also the teller will ask for fee payment and will enquire if he/she has sufficient funds.
    B) If the student is ready to get enrolled in any course, he will just ask which course is available and will fill the form out. This will decrease 1 step of asking about particular course
    C) Only collecting registration form will not eliminate any step.
  3. If after knowing the course fee, it is found that the candidate does not have the sufficient amount, but he wants to take admission in the same university. Then which another step can be definitely followed after ‘No’ answer of ‘Funds Available?’ condition?
    A) The candidate should fill another registration form.
    B) The candidate gets the required amount from home.
    C) The candidate enquires about another course
    D) The candidate’s candidature will surely be cancelled
    E) The candidate asks to calculate fee for another course.
    View Answer
      Option C
    Explanation
    :
A): Filling another registration form without knowing about the course is available or not is wastage of time
B): Going to home and getting back the required amount is not descripted anywhere in diagram. So cannot be definitely said about this step.
C): can definitely be the step. He enquires about some course for which he has sufficient funds and proceed further.
E): For getting the amount calculated, he will have to fill out form for another course and get it validated.
  4. Which of the following step is logically missing in the given data flow diagram?
    A) Which transport facility will the candidate opt for coming to university.
    B) If the candidate is already registered or not
    C) The candidate is eligible or not.
    D) Candidate’s enquiry about class timings, holidays, etc.
    E) None of these
    View Answer
      Option A
    Explanation
    :
    A) is a missing step because of the candidate opts for any of the university’s transport system, then its fees will also have to be calculated.
    B) This condition does not make sense.
    C) condition is covered in step where validation of form is done.
The given data flow diagram depicts the University’s procedure. So D cannot be one of the steps in given diagram.

Directions (5-10): Study the following information and answer the questions that follow:

In a certain code, the symbol for 0 is # and for 1 is @. The numbers greater than 1 are to be represented using these two symbols only. The value of the symbol for 1 doubles itself every time it shifts one place to the left. Study the following examples.

‘0’ is written as #              ‘1’ is written as @

‘2’ is written as @#           ‘3’ is written as # @@

‘4’ is written as @##        ‘5’ is written as @#@

And so on

  1. What will be (@##@#@) – (@#@@)
    A) 22
    B) 32
    C) 26
    D) 30
    E) 33
    View Answer
     Option C
    Explanation:

    (@##@#@) + (@@#) – (@#@@)
    = (100101) –  (1011)
    100101 =  25*1 + 24*0 + 23*0 + 22*1 + 21*0 + 20*1
    1011 = 23*1 + 22*0 + 21*1 + 20*1
    = 37 – 11 = 26
  2. What will be (@#@# – 1) × (@@@# – 1)
    A) @@@#@@#
    B) @@#@@#@
    C) @@@@#@
    D) @@@#@#@
    E) @@@###@
    View Answer
     Option D
    Explanation:

    @#@#  = 10
    @@@#  = 14
    9*13 = 117
  3. What will be √[(@###@) + (@#@#) + (@##@##@)]
    A) 8
    B) 10
    C) 11
    D) 13
    E) 12
    View Answer
     Option B
    Explanation:

    @###@  – 17
    @#@#  – 10
    @##@##@  – 73
    So √[(@####) + (@##@)] + (@##@##@)  = 17 + 10 + 73 = 100
  4. What will be the remainder of when (@@@#@#@) is divided by (@##@@)
    A) @@#
    B) @#@
    C) @##
    D) @#
    E) @@
    View Answer
     Option E
    Explanation:

    @@@#@#@  = 1110101
    = 26*1 + 25*1 + 24*1 + 23*0 + 22*1 + 21*0 + 20*1
    = 117
    @##@@  – 19
    So remainder of (117/19) = 3 = (11) = (@@)
  5. What is the HCF of (@@#@@#) and (@@####)
    A) @##
    B) @@@
    C) @#@
    D) @@#
    E) None of these
    View Answer
     Option D
    Explanation:

    @@#@@# = 54
    @@#### = 48
    54 = 6*9 and 48 = 6*8
    So HCF of (54 and 48) = 6
    6 = 110 = @@#
  6. What will be (@#@#) + (@#@@@#)
    A) 50
    B) 52
    C) 56
    D) 48
    E) 45
    View Answer
     Option C
    Explanation:

    @#@# = 1010 = 10
    @#@@@# = 101110 = 32 + 8 + 4 + 2 = 46
