Uttarakhand CM Dhami launches ‘Yuva U’khand app’ to boost self-employment
The state government launched ‘Yuva Uttarakhand mobile application’ to provide information about self-employment. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the app would help unemployed youth become self-reliant.

  • Dhami announced the development of self-employment centres in all districts so that locals can get information and applications related to schemes.
  • In the first phase, the CM inaugurated two such centres in Dehradun and US Nagar. He added that his government had signed an MoU with IIT Roorkee and Microsoft for skill development courses so that youngsters can become job creators instead of seekers.

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India launched the ‘A-HELP’ programme at Jharkhand
The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India launched the ‘A-HELP’ (Accredited Agent for Health and Extension of Livestock Production) programme in the State of Jharkhand.

  • The ‘A-HELP’ program was aims to empower women by engaging them as Accredited Agent who contribute significantly to disease control, animal tagging, and livestock insurance.  The new scheme would enhance access to veterinary services at the farmer’s doorstep and empower Pashu Sakhis.
  • It has already initiated across different States/UTs including Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jharkhand.

Bihar govt announces 10% reservation for EWS in judicial services
The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar announced 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections (EWS) in the judicial services, and the state-run law colleges and universities.The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by the chief minister.

  • The cabinet approved amendments in the guidelines of the State Judicial Services, 1951, allowing 10 per cent reservation for EWS category in judicial services and also in state-run law institutes and universities.

Successful Conclusion of Annual Joint HADR Exercise 2023 – CHAKRAVAT –
The Annual Joint Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise 2023, codenamed ‘CHAKRAVAT,’ hosted by the Indian Navy in Goa from October 9 to 11, 2023, came to a successful close.

  • The event culminated in a Multi-Agency Capability Demonstration at Mole Berth, Port of Mormugao, showcasing coordinated rescue and relief operations.
  • The exercise saw active participation from a spectrum of national agencies, including the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), etc. Additionally, delegates from eight friendly foreign nations, namely Comoros, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania, participated.

B’desh PM Hasina inaugurates largest infra project built with Chinese loan
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 82-km Padma Bridge Rail Link, the country’s largest infrastructure project built under China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

  • Hasina unveiled the Dhaka-Bhanga section of the rail route between Dhaka and Jashore through the Padma Bridge from Mawa Railway Station in Munshiganj.
  • The remaining portion of the project linking Jessore is expected to be launched in June of next year, the Dhaka Tribune reported, quoting project officials.

RBI asks Bank of Baroda to suspend new customer onboarding on its mobile app
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has asked Bank of Baroda (BoB) to suspend further onboarding of customers onto the ‘bob World’, the lender’s mobile banking application.

  • The RBI has, in exercise of its power, under section 35A of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, directed Bank of Baroda to suspend, with immediate effect, any further onboarding of their customers onto the ‘bob World’ mobile application.
  • It said the action on the bank is based on certain material supervisory concerns observed in the manner of onboarding of their customers onto this mobile application.

Bridgestone and Tata Power collaborate to install EV chargers
Tyre maker Bridgestone India said it has joined hands with Tata Power to install EV chargers for four-wheelers at its dealerships across the country.

  • Under the collaboration, Tata Power will instal 25/30 Kwh capacity DC fast chargers that are capable of charging a four-wheeler within one hour, allowing 20-24 vehicles being charged in a day, Bridgestone India said.The chargers will be operational on a 24×7 basis, the company said.

IOC, under Thomas Bach, and Reliance Foundation join hands to promote Olympics’ Programme for schoolkids
The International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Olympic Museum and Reliance Foundation entered into an agreement to promote Olympic values through sport among children in the Mumbai region.

  • While there are plans to promote the programme across the state of Maharashtra soon, the agreement will focus on grade-specific activities in selected schools, sessions between athletes and students to promote physical activity and raising awareness about Olympic values.

Mukesh Ambani now richest Indian on Hurun List, beats Gautam Adani to top spot
Mukesh Ambani has reclaimed the title of the richest Indian, surpassing Gautam Adani, as per Hurun India Rich List 2023. During this period, Mukesh Ambani’s wealth has surged from ₹165,100 crore in 2014 to nearly ₹808,700 crore, marking an impressive four-fold increase.

  • Following the Hindenburg report, Gautam Adani (61), the chairman of the Adani group, slipped to the second position and experienced a staggering decrease in wealth. Adani slipped to the second position with a wealth of ₹474,800 crore. With a total wealth of ₹2,78,500 crore as of 2023, Cyrus S Poonawalla has maintained his position at number three.
  • In the list, Shiv Nadar is placed at the fourth spot with a wealth of ₹2,28,900 crore, followed by Gopichand Hinduja & family at ₹1,76,500 crore. Dilip Shanghvi is at the sixth spot with ₹1,64,300 crore.

Iran’s Shadloui becomes costliest player in Pro Kabaddi League auction at Rs 2.35 crore
Iranian Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh became the most expensive overseas player at the auction and was brought by Puneri Paltan for Rs 2.35 crore,while India’s Maninder Singh was roped in by Bengal Warriors for Rs 2.12 crore.

  • The two-day auction began with 12 teams bidding for players, both Indian and overseas, from categories A and B. The auctions for categories C and D will take place.
