SC-constituted expert panel submits report on Adani-Hindenburg row
The six-member expert panel, set up by the Supreme Court, to look into US short seller Hindenburg’s allegations against Adani Group, has submitted its report in a sealed cover to the court.
- The panel, however, said it was not possible to conclude if there had been regulatory failures regarding price manipulations.
- On March 2, SC constituted a committee headed by retired supreme court judge Justice AM Sapre to suggest measures to strengthen regulatory frameworks, investigate the Adani row, and suggest measures to strengthen the statutory framework.
IIT Madras ties up with Israeli government for water security
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has entered into a partnership with Israel to establish the ‘India-Israel Center of Water Technology’ (CoWT).
- This joint initiative aims to address the challenges in water resources management and water technologies in India.
- The key objective of this new centre is to ensure the implementation of best technologies of Israel, which is a leader in integrated water resources management, in a tailor-made context for the Indian requirements and work on sustainable management solution for Indian water sector.

China overtakes Japan as world’s top car exporter
Rising sales of electric vehicles, as well as the ability to continue dealing with Russia, helped China become the world’s biggest exporter of new vehicles in the first quarter of 2023. It overtook Japan to claim the title.
- Despite losing the top spot, auto exports from the island nation grew six percent, as compared to the first quarter of 2022.
- However, China’s automakers shipped 58 percent more vehicles out of the country in the first three months of 2023 than they did a year earlier, reports Nikkei Asia.
Aerospace firms Garuda, Naini team up for drone manufacturing
Chennai headquartered drone start-up Garuda Aerospace and Naini Aerospace engineering Limited (NAeL), a wholly owned subsidiary of HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence, have signed a joint development partnership to manufacture Advanced Precision Drones.
- As part of the partnership, 5000 drones are planned in the first year.The drones which will be made by Garuda Aerospace will be able to carry a payload of around 25 kg.
TCS announces Generative AI partnership with Google Cloud
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced an expanded partnership with Google Cloud and the launch of its new offering — TCS Generative AI which leverages Google Cloud’s generative AI services, to design and deploy custom-tailored business solutions.
- Building on its domain knowledge across multiple verticals and investments, TCS has developed a large portfolio of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered solutions and intellectual property in the areas of AIOps, Algo Retail, smart manufacturing, digital twins and robotics.

Adidas to become new kit sponsor for Indian cricket team
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Adidas will be the new kit sponsor of the Indian team, which will run till March 2028.
- While specific financial details and the duration of the contract were not disclosed, this development marks a significant milestone in the partnership between Adidas and the Indian cricket team.
Neeraj Chopra becomes World Number one in men’s javelin throw rankings
India’s Tokyo Olympics gold medallist Neeraj Chopra elevated to the top of the latest men’s javelin throw and He is the new World No.1 in the rankings issued by the World Athletics.
- Chopra was leading the ranking with 1455 points, 22 ahead of Grena’a’s Anderson Peters. Chopra had been at the No.2 position since August 30, 2022, but overtook Peters, the reigning world champion, this week.
- Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch is placed third with 1410 points with Julian Webber of Germany in fourth with 1385 points and Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem at fifth with 1306 points.
ISSF World Cup: Indian shooters Ganemat Sekhon, Darshna Rathore create history
India for the first time won two senior individual medals in women’s skeet at International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup stage in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
- Ganemat Sekhon won silver which was her second-ever individual world cup medal. In her first appearance at the senior level, Darshna Rathore won bronze making it her a first-ever. Local favourite Assem Orynbay of Kazakhstan won gold through a shoot-off.
- In the men’s skeet, Mairaj Khan, Gurjoat Khangura, and Anantjeet Singh Naruka participated but none could make it to the finals.

Financial Times global ranking puts IIMK among top four schools in India
Boosting its growing global credentials, the Indian Institute of Management – Kozhikode (IIMK) has been included in the prestigious Financial Times rankings (FT rankings).
- A debut in FT rankings, announced ranked IIMK at the 72nd position among the top 75 Open-enrolment executive programme providers globally.
- This achievement follows the 27-year-old institute’s advancement of 100 spots in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2023, where it is now placed in the Top 251-300 institutes in business and management studies globally, a press release said.
- IIMK is one of only three IIMs and four Indian B-Schools featured in the top 75 FT Open Enrolment Executive Education Rankings – 2023, which were based on surveys of executive participants and respective institutes worldwide.

SpaceX sends first Saudi Arabian astronauts to space
Saudi Arabia’s first astronauts in decades rocketed toward the International Space Station on a chartered multimillion-dollar flight.
- SpaceX launched the ticket-holding crew, led by a retired NASA astronaut now working for the company that arranged the trip. Also on board: a US businessman who now owns a sports car racing team.
- Sponsored by the Saudi Arabian government, Rayyanah Barnawi, a stem cell researcher, became the first woman from the kingdom to go to space. She was joined by Ali al-Qarni, a fighter pilot with the Royal Saudi Air Force.
