Gujarat govt completes SAUNI Yojana, will benefit 98000 people
The Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation (SAUNI) Yojana, initiated by the Prime Minister, seeks to supply daytime electricity to farmers in Gujarat for agricultural and irrigation needs.
- Its primary goal is to channelize excess floodwaters from the Sardar Sarovar Dam, located along the Narmada river, and use them to replenish 115 major dams in drought-prone regions.
- In the first phase of this programme around 10 dams will be filled with the water of Narmada River. This will fill up the reservoirs of the Rajkot, Jamnagar and Morbi district
Bengaluru becomes first Indian city to join World Cities Culture Forum
Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka became the first Indian city to be part of the World Cities Culture Forum (WCCF), a global network of cities that share research and intelligence to explore the role of culture in future prosperity.
- Bengaluru became the 41st city to join the forum and the network currently includes 40 cities across six continents. The forum includes cities like New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, and Dubai.

ADB, India sign $295 million loan to upgrade state highways in Bihar
The Indian government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have joined hands once again to enhance infrastructure in Bihar. Through a $295-million loan, the project aims to upgrade approximately 265 km of state highways in Bihar, incorporating climate and disaster-resilient designs and road safety measures.
- The initiative aligns with the Bihar government’s vision to improve all state highways to standard two-lane widths and prioritize road safety.
- Additionally, the upgraded roads are expected to boost connectivity in impoverished rural regions, improving access to essential services like health, education, and markets, ultimately enhancing the well-being of the people.

Jio Financial Services Ltd, the newly carved out financial services unit of billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s group and BlackRock announced an agreement to form a 50:50 joint venture with USD 150 million investment each to enter asset management business in the country.

M&M buys 3.53% stake in RBL Bank for ₹417 crore
Mahindra and Mahindra said it acquired a 3.53% stake in RBL Bank Ltd for Rs 417 crore.
- M&M said it will consider further investment subjected to regulatory nods and required procedures but won’t acquire more than 9.9% stake.
- Mahindra already owns non-banking financial company Mahindra and Mahindra Financial.An approval from the Reserve Bank of India is needed to acquire a 5% stake in any Indian lender.

Sports Ministry accords recognition to Handball Association of India
The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports has made the decision to grant official recognition to the Handball Association of India (HAI) as the National Sports Federation (NSF) responsible for promoting and regulating the sport within the country.
- HAI holds official affiliations with international governing bodies, including the International Handball Federation and the Asian Handball Federation, as well as the Indian Olympic Association.
Former India international Nidhi Buley and sister Ritika among four females to enter BCCI umpiring panel
The Indore-based Buley sisters, Nidhi and Ritika Buley, are among the four retired female cricketers who have made their way into the BCCI umpires’ panel with a distinction.

Noor Shekhawat became the first transgender person in Rajasthan to be issued a birth certificate with the gender recorded as transgender.
