Govt approves Modernization scheme to equip Central Armed Police Forces|
Centre has approved the Modernisation Plan-IV scheme for Central Armed Police Forces. It will equip the forces with modern state-of-the-art weapons and equipment as per their operational requirement, keeping in view their deployment pattern in different theatres. Besides, upgraded IT solutions will also be provided to them.

  • The scheme with a total outlay of 1,523 crore rupees to be implemented by the Home Ministry from February 2022 to March 2026.
  • The implementation of the scheme will equip Central Armed Police Forces to improve the overall operational efficiency and preparedness which will positively impact the internal security scenario in the country.

Centre transfers RS 1 lakh 82 thousand cr to farmers’ accounts under the PM KISAN Samman Nidhi Yojana
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said that the government of India has transferred one lakh 82 thousand crore rupees till date to the farmers’ accounts under the PM KISAN Samman Nidhi yojana.

  • Describing agriculture as the backbone of the Indian economy, the Union Agriculture Minister said that agriculture has always stood with the nation whenever there was a crisis.

Special logo unveiled to mark 75 years of Indo-Netherlands ties
This year India and the Netherlands are commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. To mark the occasion, a special logo was unveiled to commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations between both nations.

  • To celebrate strong political, economic & commercial relations a large number of events and activities are planned during the year in a wide range of areas of cooperation including water, agriculture, innovation, energy, climate and culture.


SWISS to Become World’s First Airlines to Use Solar Aviation fuel
Swiss and its parent company, the Lufthansa Group, have partnered with synthetic fuel group Synhelion to use its solar fuel.

  • This will make Swiss the first airline in the world to use “sun-to-liquid” fuel.
  • Swiss-based Synhelion, which is a spinoff from the Swiss Institute of Technology, has developed a technology for manufacturing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from renewable energy sources.
  • Synhelion is set to build its first facility for the industrial production of solar fuel in Germany’s Julich this year, with Swiss becoming the first airline customer for the solar kerosene in 2023.


Hero MotoCorp enters EV sector under Vida brand
Hero MotoCorp Ltd, India’s largest two-wheeler maker, will make its long-awaited entry into the country’s thriving electric vehicle market in July through the Vida brand.

  • The new brand will house the New Delhi-based automaker’s emerging mobility initiatives, including upcoming launches of electric two-wheelers.
  • Customer deliveries of the first product will start later this year. The company will manufacture the electric vehicles at a factory in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.


Bharti Axa Life Insurance appoints Vidya Balan as its brand ambassador
Bharti Axa Life Insurance has announced the appointment of actor Vidya Balan as brand ambassador.

  • With this partnership, Balan will aim to strengthen the brand’s core values and deepen the #DoTheSmartThing narrative promoted by the brand.

Aviation sector veteran Sanjiv Kapoor appointed CEO of Jet Airways
The Kalrock Jalan consortium announced the appointment of aviation sector veteran Sanjiv Kapoor as its chief executive officer. Kapoor will take charge on April 4.

  • Kapoor is currently the president of Oberoi Hotels and Resorts.


Oscar-winning producer Alan Walbridge Ladd Jr passes away
The Oscar-winning producer, Former Executive at Twentieth Century Fox, who greenlit ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Braveheart’, Alan Ladd Junior has passed away at the age of 84 years. He was affectionately known as “Laddie”.

  • He won the Academy Award (Oscar award) for Best Picture ‘Braveheart’ directed by Mel Gibson in 1995. He was one of the founders of the Ladd Company, established in 1979.

Former Indian Army Chief General S F Rodrigues passes away
General S F Rodrigues, who had served as Chief of the Indian Army from 1990 to 1993 passed away at the age of 88 years. General Sunith Francis Rodrigues was also the Governor of Punjab from 2004 to 2010.

  • He had served two terms on the National Security Advisory Board.
  • Since his retirement, he has been engaged in social and literary pursuits and has also delivered numerous talks on strategic issues.
