  1. A bag contains x purple ball, y blue balls and 5 white balls. If one ball taken out from bag, then probability of being it purpose is 4/15 and probability of being blue is 2/5. Find the sum of number of purple balls and blue in that bag ?
    8
    5
    6
    10
    12
    Option D
    Probability of purple balls = x/x + y + 5 = 4/5
    15x = 4x + 4y + 20
    11x – 4y = 20
    probability of blue balls = y/x + y + 5 = 2/5
    2x – 3y = -10
    by solving two equations we get
    x = 4 and y = 6
    sum = 6 + 4 = 10

  2. The age of A is 10 years less than the age of B and five years before the age of C is 50% more than the age of B five years hence. If the ratio of age of B five years ago to the age of C five years hence is 3 : 7, then what is sum of present age of A and C ?
    50 years
    60 years
    35 years
    90 years
    120 years
    Option D
    Let the present age of A = x years
    present age of B = x + 10
    age of C five years ago = (x + 10 + 5) * 3/2 = 3x + 45/2
    x + 10 – 5/3x + 45/2 + 10 = 3/7
    x + 5/3x + 65/2 = 3/7
    5x = 125
    x = 25
    present age of C = 3x + 45/2 + 5 = 65
    sum = 25 + 65= 90 years

  3. A, B and C can complete a work in 15 days, 20 days and 30 days respectively. If all three starts work alternatively starts with A, then B and at last C and after 12 days B left the work. In how many days the remaining work will be completed by A and C alternatively ?
    15 days
    10 days
    6 days
    8 days
    4 days
    Option D
    LCM of 15, 20 and 30 = 60
    efficiency of A = 60/15 = 4
    efficiency of B = 60/20 = 3
    efficiency of C = 60/30 = 2
    the work completed in 3 days = 4 + 3 +2 = 9 work
    work completed in 12 days = 4 * 9 = 36 work
    remaining work = 60 – 36 = 24 work
    In 2 days work completed by A and C = 4 + 2 = 6 work
    remaining work completed = 2 * 4 = 8 days

  4. Age of Ram 4 years ago was three times the present age of his only son while his only daughter is 4 years younger to her brother. If the present average age of 4 members is 23 years and the present age of his wife is 12 years more than sum of present age of his son and daughter. Find what is the age of his wife after 3 years ?
    38 years
    32 years
    28 years
    40 years
    35 years
    Option E
    Let present age of his son = x years
    present age of Ram = 3x + 4
    present age of his daughter = x – 4
    total age of 4 members = 23 * 4 = 92 years
    age of his wife = 92 – ( x + 3x + 4 + x – 4) = 92 – 5x
    92 – 5x – (x + x – 4) = 12
    7x = 84
    x = 12
    age of his wife after 3 years = (92 – 60) + 3 = 35 years

  5. Ram and Shyam two shopkeeper, Ram calculates his profit percent on selling price whereas Shyam calculates his profit percent on cost price. If the selling prices for both the shopkeepers are same and the difference between their profit is rs.450, then calculate the sum of cost price of both the shopkeeper, given that the profit percent for both Ram and Shyam is 30%.
    8450
    9550
    4280
    10000
    10500
    Option B
    Ram calculates his profit percent on SP
    let SP = 10x
    P = 3x
    CP = 7x
    Shyam calculates his profit % on CP
    Let CP of Shyam = 10x
    P = 3x
    SP = 13x
    In both cases SP is same, so that by balancing them
    SP of Ram 10x * 13 = 130x
    SP of Shyam = 13x * 10 = 130x
    difference between their profit = 450
    3x * 13 – 3x * 10 = 450
    x = 50
    sum of their CP = (10x * 10) + (7x * 13) = 191x = 9550
